Invincible is a real-life inspiring story about Vince Papale, a 30-year old bartender played by Mark Wahlberg, substitute teacher, and Eagles fan from South Philadelphia. He one day loses his teaching job because of budget cuts, and as a result, his wife decides to leave him a devastating note saying he would never be able to accomplish anything. Vince’s bar buddies encourage him to go to the Eagle’s tryouts. When Vince’s father finds out what his bar buddies were trying to do, he tells him to let go as a man can only take so much failure at one time. That along with his wife’s note encouraged him to go to the tryout, and see his dream come true.

A real-life story that took place in 1971, where black and white schools and their football teams are integrated, and the white team’s coach (Bill Yoast) is replaced with the black team’s coach (Herman Boone, played by Denzel Washington). While this movie is definitely more on the darker side, it will definitely get you to think about what is most important to you in life. Starring Kevin Spacey and Annette Benning, the story is about the “All American Family” which, like most families, has a lot of problems. The father decides to finally take back his life and leave his job to rediscover his own identity. While the mother struggles to create her success in real estate because she believes she is not “good enough”. And the daughter struggles to find her own identity through social acceptance in school and friends. If you are deep into contemplation about life, this is a movie worth watching. But once again, it is on the darker side of films.
