How To Stop Anxiety
Many people who suffer from anxiety attacks do so for one of three reasons:
- Mental Issues (stress, worry, fear, etc.)
- Physical (breathing, smoking, rushing around, etc.)
- Hormonal (thyroid)
Lets take a look at each one…
1. Mental Issues
Each of us has the power to be on control of our emotions. However, when we are not using this power, we can let our life enter into a downward spiral when things like fear, stress, and worry take over.
The key thing to remember is that life is meaningless and that you have the power to give it meaning.
Things like…
Fear of the unknown.
Fear of failure.
Fear of uncertainty.
If something is causing you to feel fearful or stressed out, this is because you are defining that situation in a negative manner that is creating your experience.
All feelings are derived from your beliefs around a situation.
Change your belief and thoughts about it, and you will change how you feel.
2. Physical Issues
All too often people do what is called “shallow breathing” which means that you are taking short breaths into your chest.
This issue has become quite an epidemic because we live in a fast paced society where people are rushing around and not conscious of their breathing.
Even worse, if you smoke then you are exacerbating the issue because smoking affects your lungs and how you breathe and can bring on anxiety even faster.
Take an honest assessment of your life and ask yourself:
Am I conscious of my breathing?
Am I rushing around a lot?
If you find that you are moving at a fast pace in life and are not aware of your breathing, then chances are you are bringing on anxiety because of how you are moving through life.
And of course, if you smoke this just makes it worse.
Exercise (especially cardio), yoga, and mediation are some of the best ways to heal your anxiety attacks.
But most importantly, slow down your pace of life.
Find a pace that is comfortable for you.
Yes, it may mean you will have to do less things. But this also means that you will need to focus on what is most important (i.e. quality vs quantity).
Note: Spending too much time on social media can also bring on anxiety especially if you consume too much negative news. That’s a lot of negative information you are taking in at one time without the time to process it in a constructive manner and therefore causing you to have anxiety.
3. Hormonal
Many people are unaware of the fact that they probably have some form of thyroid issue.
When your thyroid is out of balance, anxiety is one of the most common symptoms.
You should definitely have your thyroid checked out and you may want to take some iodine as this is one of the best ways to help your thyroid.
